Youth Council receives talk from Public Health and James Okulaja

At the March Full Youth Council meeting, the youth council welcomed guest speakers in both James Harman, Senior Public Health Manager at Medway Council and James Okulaja, National Anti-Bullying Ambassador.


James Harman spoke about the ongoing work that is going on within the Medway Council Public Health team including the three strands of public health. James also explained the ongoing work within front line services including:

  • Child Health

  • Domestic Abuse

  • Health Improvement Advice Centre

  • NHS Health Checks

  • Oral Health Promotion

  • Sexual Health

  • Stop Smoking

  • Substance Misuse

  • Supporting Healthy Weight

  • Tobacco Control

  • Wider Determinants of Health

  • Workforce Development

  • Workplace Health


James Okulaja, UK National Anti-Bullying Ambassador also attended the meeting and spoke with members of the Youth Council about the work that is going on within the Diana Award to continue the fight against bullying. This followed on from our Annual Conference in November which focused on the subject of bullying.
