Youth Council meets with Young Healthwatch

We met with David Laming and Maggie Cane from Healthwatch, and they spoke to us about the revamped Youth Healthwatch programme that is underway. The programme focuses on mental and sexual health and family relationships for young people in Medway aged 16-24. They are based at Kingsley House in Gillingham.

The idea of the programme is that young people within the age range can contact Young Healthwatch and ask for help with their particular situation. If they can’t provide help, they can signpost to other organisations that can help. Surveys have been completed at MidKent College and David Laming has visited Rainham Mark Grammar School (RMGS) to give them a talk and ask them about the problems that the programme focuses on. He received positive feedback.

Jasmine Ee, Our Partnerships Director said “We hope to support this programme as it grows in the next year or so. We can help to promote it in our schools and by handing out surveys. We look forward to working closely with Healthwatch in due course”
