MYC meets with Kent’s Police & Crime Commissioner.

MYC members met with Kent’s Police and Crime Commissioner, Matthew Scott. The role of PCC is an elected position to hold the police to account. They set the priorities for policing and act as a voice for people in the community. They hold the Chief Constable to account on their delivery of policing.

Matthew Scott discussed our conference report from 2018 which focused on community safety, particularly drawing attention to our ‘License to Kill’ concept, a programme that could allow young people to receive an effective intervention to prevent involvement in crime. He discussed possible funding opportunities to allow us to work towards meeting our conference actions.

We appreciate Matthew taking the time to visit MYC and take our questions, in addition to expressing our gratitude for Kent PCC sponsoring the Medway Youth Awards 2019 which are happening very soon.
